Letters From Our Brittany's Families
Ataboys Guiding Star Hunter
Shelley,

How are you? I'm doing very well, Just another quick Update, Hunter is now 4 months old and just recieved his 16 week shots on Thursday so hes all up to date now :-) and his health exam came out 100% :-), Hunter just passed his training this evening with

"Best Trained and behaved puppy in class award"

We had people congratulating us after class as they were just amazed how well and quick Hunter has learned as its only been 4 weeks 1 day a week the first class he was the most Hyper dog and wouldnt listen we now have him trained to Sit, Down, Come, Stay, shake a paw Roll Over and Leave it and drop it.

I can have him sit by hand command, then have him lay down I can put a treat right on his paw and tell him once to leave it Ican walk out of the room and come back to him and as soon as Isay "ok take it" he takes it. I think thats the trick that everyone was impressed with at the course.

The next thing I need to decide on is if I want to show him or put him into Agility training, any suggestions you may have would be great, Heres a picture I got of our very Proud "Ataboys Guiding Star Hunter" this evening with his certificate.

Take care Dave
Haley
Hi Shelley,

Haley is doing very well. We are so very impressed with her temperament and her trainability. She has picked up the basic commands sit, come and down very quickly.

We’ve finally decided on her registered name: Ataboy’s Masked Comet – Haley (30 characters).

Here are some recent pictures.

Starr
Shelley,
I would like to send you a quick letter describing my relationship with my Brittany, Starr. She has been a great addition to my family. She is the sweetest, nicest, and most affectionate dog I have ever owned, but I'm not surprised. After my search with other kennels, and meeting you guys and your Brittanies, I was confident I was going to recieve a great dog.
Starr is now 10 months old. When I got her from you at 8 weeks I wanted a family companion [ a must] and a hunting dog. I hunted her over pheasants for the 1st time at 8 months old. At 10 months old my hunting partners and I have currently killed 91 pheasants and chukars over her. She hunts hard and relentless and does a wonderful job pointing. She has just now started to retrieve some birds. In just 2 months of hunting she's convincing me that by her 3rd year she will be the companion and hunting dog I have always wanted.
I want to thank you for your kindness and patience you had with me in my chooing a breeder. Ataboy' s Kennels met all of my expectations of what a good breeder should produce. Your interest in my needs were met perfectly with Starr.
Thanks again for a wonderful Brittany.
Your friend forever,
Don Kirkwood
Bandit
Hello Shelley... just had to send you this picture of the cutest, smartest and loving puppy ever. Isn't he too cute? You did a wonderful job of picking his parents, sugar & zyggy.
He's been on the sailboat (27' Catalina) a few times, a little nervous at first, but then got his sea legs.
He loves to run, run, run, round and round and round in circles - but you have to watch him - he loves an audience.
He's 6 months old and he comes on "come" command, need to practice more with him walking instead of the kids taking him running.

Katie
Shelley
Well, we have had Katie for two weeks and we are really enjoying her. She
slept with her chin on Gord's lap all the way to Newmarket (three hours) the
day we brought her home. She got a little fidgety we entered Newmarket but
that was because she was in a hurry to do her business when we got to our
house --- yes she waited until she got onto the lawn.

The first two days were hectic to say the least but we survived. She sleeps
in her crate all night and only acted up the first two nights. Since then
she doesn't fuss and the only way we know she is awake is that she starts to
play with her "squeaker toy". She sleeps through to 6:30 a.m. which we
figure is pretty good.

We have learned that she only needs a morning nap and a mid afternoon nap.
We were putting her back into the crate for a nap after dinner but she was
tooooooooo wired when she woke up. We keep her up now all evening and she
is ready for bed at night and a little calmer.

I think we went through a pretty significant teething stage --- she was
pretty rough with her nipping and biting but she has pretty much stopped
attacking us -- mostly Gord. She is learning the work "No" but after all
she still is just a puppy and we know she is trying to be good.

Katie started retrieving the first week and about 3 out of 4 times she drops
the toy at our feet when she comes back. She knows her name and the words
"outside" and the "Katie come" command.

Katie is a camera show off ---- I think it will be obvious when you get the
pictures.

We really enjoyed meeting and visiting you and want to thank you again for
our puppy - we love her a lot.

Well I guess it's time to go now --- we hope all is well with you and your
family and that your last show went well.

Warm regards Marilyn and Gord
Ataboy's Lucy In The Sky
Hi guys! Just wanted to drop a note to show you how big Lucy is these days! She's doing very well and getting so big! She's about 90% trained, hardly has any accidents anymore - except that she still has a bladder control issue at night in her crate. She sits, gives paw - both, responds to up and lie down, and we're working on stay and fetch…both of which she does when she feels like currently, lol. She'll get it eventually. What a smart puppy she is!

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and we'll speak with you soon!

Ataboy's Kill Da Wabbit
Lucy and Rusty
Hello Shelley, Ivan and Danielle here from Windsor.

We just wanted to let you know how much we are in love with Lucy, "Ataboy's Kill da Wabbit". She's the best dog either of us has ever had. So smart, so good and so pretty. Lucy would also like to say hello to you and her mother Ivana .... sometimes Lucy gets our names confused just like you did :) Hey did you know that Brittany's, especially Lucy, are also good at hunting Minpins? Or her Uncle Rusty as we like to say. We hope you enjoy the pictures.

Take care.

Zoomer and Michael
We got Zoomer home last night. He was a wee bit carsick, but aside from his poor little motion-sick tummy, the ride was easy and he was just a great little traveller. Michael spent the entire two hours telling Zoomer all about his new home and how they were going to be best friends. <grin> It only took him about 5 minutes to settle in comfortably and start to explore. I can’t even tell you how perfectly it all went. Zoomer and Sid (the cocker) have already become good friends, and the pic below should speak to how Michael and Zoomer are bonding.

Things didn’t settle down last night ‘til about 10:30 – everyone had to be licked, all pants pulled, all toes sniffed, all potential fun spots explored – but when we’d all said our “goodnights” and the lights went out, there was a grand total of 3 minutes of whining and then Zoomer slept straight through without a whimper until 6:30 when Michael and I went downstairs to take him out for his morning “puddlies”. To our surprise, there were no accidents and Zoomer did his “puddlies” immediately upon going out. After he ate, it took about 15 minutes before he started to whimper softly, and we took him out again – he immediately did his big job. I cannot believe how well-behaved this puppy is!!! I’m following all your advice and it’s working like a charm.

Zoomer is absolutely everything we were looking for in a new family member. He’s loving, smart, fun, energetic, friendly and eager to please. Our family feels completely blessed to have found him. I can’t thank you enough for an excellent puppy-finding experience and to you, Garnet, for knowing – even over the phone – which pup would be best for us (or which pup we’d be best for).

Actually, the entire experience of meeting you guys was terrific. Shelley, it’s so obvious that you adore your dogs that I felt right away that we were in the right place and that the puppy we were looking at was well-loved and well-raised. I sincerely hope that we will be able to keep in touch. I will definitely send you pics of Zoomer as he grows and develops into the amazing and wonderful dog that I can already see in him. Thanks for caring for him so well – the effort you’ve made really shows.
Hugs and much gratitude from…Zoomer’s family in Guelph:

Michael, Margot, Rollie, Frank and Hannah

– AND Sid and Selah – we all love Zoomer!
